ICHD hosted UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Dafina Gercheva on April 8, 2010. The head of credible organization and ICHD representatives discussed lessons learned from past cooperation and opportunities for new initiatives.

The protection of human rights minorities is a serious challenge to the establishment of democracy both in transition societies and in the European Union. The representatives of the minorities usually lack awareness of their rights and, thus, are hardly able to protect their interests and rights. Meanwhile, unrecognized entities appear in the margin of regional integration processes and do not benefit from international development opportunities.

ICHD will be represented in an Interagency Commission by its expert in this area.The Commission aims at raising effectiveness of actions implemented to prevent GBV, information collection as well as for drafting the National Programme on Combating Gender Based Violence.

Over 340 representatives of public service institutions, including police officers, health professionals, municipal servants and local authorities, from all regions of Armenia and Yerevan participated in fifteen two-day trainings on Gender and GBV issues organized and conducted by ICHD.

Gender-based violence is a major human rights threat throughout the world. The perception and stereotypes of Armenians on gender based violence are quite troubling. About quarter thousands of women and girls - victims of domestic violence and leaving under permanent stress have been trained by the Consortium of three local organisations led by ICHD...

The attitudes and behaviours of Armenian people towards the gender-based violence are deeply rooted in their stereotypes on gender roles and violence. ICHD and its ally-partners in Consortium combating against gender based-violence, supported by UNFPA/Armenia have addressed this issue by raising awareness of over 1650 women and men and young people in 80 one-day open discussions in over sixty urban and rural communities around Armenia...

Around 200 young people in Gyumri and Vanadzor participated in Town Hall meetings on Armenia- NATO cooperation organized by ICHD and Armenian Atlantic Association.

"Support to Migration Policy Development and Relevant Capacity Building in Armenia" 3 year project was implemented by the International Center for Human Development (ICHD) in cooperation with the Migration Agency at the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration (MA MTA) and British Council Armenia. The main results, achievements and lessons learned have been wrapped up at the final conference on 19 February 2010.

"When I first started to interview the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process, I can tell you how unwilling particularly the Turks were in engaging any kind of dialogue"-said David Phillips during his book presentation on 4th February 2010, in Ani Plaza hotel, Yerevan.The translation of the book "Unsilencing the Past" was published by the ICHD and Eurasia Partnership Foundation with support of USAID.

Fifty young representatives, as well as a number of experts from Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine participated in the regional seminar "South Caucasus Youth Forum: New Strategic Concept of the Alliance - Do we have a Stake?". The seminar was organized by the AAA and ICHD with the assistance of the Norwegian Atlantic Committee (DNAK) on February 4-5, 2010 in Yerevan, Armenia.
