Today, ICHD survey on “Perspective of expansion of opportunities of representation and participation of women in the field of defense” has been conducted in the administrative complex of the ARM Ministry of Defense, within the framework of the cooperation between the UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) and the ARM Ministry of Defense established in 2014. The discussions were attended by representatives of the public sector and international organizations, as well as state representatives.

In his opening speech, First Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan noted that women’s rights in the armed of forces and the issues related to the promotion of equal opportunities are included in the reform agenda of the Ministry of Defense. The ARM Ministry of Defense highly values its joint works with the UNFPA and is ready to continue and deepen their cooperation. 

During the discussion ICHD presented the policy proposals which were made after having the results of the analysis.

Speeches were also held by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Armenia, the Executive Representative of the UNFPA, Heritage parliamentary group member Tevan Poghosyan, the National Executive of military and political affairs of the OSCE office in Yerevan, ARM MoD representatives and experts. The attendants were presented with the perspectives of future works conducted by the ARM Ministry of Defense, within this framework.
