2012 - ongoing
Despite to consistent efforts of the Government of Armenia, development partners and civil society, the local democratic governance and equal participation of women and men in local decision making have not shown much progress for the past decades. To address the issue in 2012 ICHD started the project “Strengthening local capacities for local democracy in Armenia through institutionalizing effective and equal public participation in local decision making”. The project is part of a larger programme implemented by UNDP and funded by the European Union: Women in local democracy.
2012 - 2013
The project implemented with the support of Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation fund was one of the many initiatives of the Young Leaders Forum, established in 2010. The overall goal of the project was to establish a dialogue between young leaders and high level decision makers from different countries, and engage youth in public control over democratic reforms in their countries by facilitating an open discussion and allowing young leaders to freely express their opinions on the issue of democracy building.

At the dawn of elections in 2012 and 2013 in Armenia ICHD proposed to address the issue of active participation by addressing the public apathy through involvement of youth in the election processes. The goal of the project was to raise the level of youth involvement by training and supporting them to participate in the Armenian elections as independent observers.
more >>On January 30, 2024 ICHD organized the first Town Hall Meeting within ACE in Vayk consolidated community, comprising 17 rural and urban settlements, in close collaboration with the local government, "Solution Hub" NGO and their beneficiaries, active young people from the community. The results are summarized in the THM report available in Armenian only.
