On September 3rd it became clear that Armenia was to adopt the course of the Customs Union and subsequently, of the Eurasian Union. The aftermath was the palpable realization of the acute crisis of the current political thought in Armenia. No well-argued evidence was ever provided to support the vision of connecting Armenia’s economic future with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The pressure to make Armenia reject the direction of European integration, crowned in the meeting of the two presidents on September 3rd when the northern superpower made such an insistent offer to its Armenian counterpart that the latter was unable to refuse.
